Heeramandi Set To Be Released on Netflix on 1st May

Every Sanjay Leela Bhansali(SLB) film is unique and has a Midas touch to it. In fact, these films have ruled our hearts and minds for years. Everything from start to the end is perfect be it casting, costume, storytelling, art decor, background score and editing. Every part of filming is perfection in itself and contributes to the whole film being a masterpiece. The filmmaker even forayed in Television earlier and launched a show called Saraswatichandra on Star Plus but later pulled back mid-way. Now, he is all set to mark his debut in the OTT world with his web series called, “Heeramandi” on Netflix.

And ever since the announcement was made there has been a lot of buzz around the upcoming series. The makers dropped the trailer on 9th April 2024 on all the social handles of Netflix and SLB Productions and it gained an immense response everywhere.

The trailer gave us a peek into the grandeur of the pre-independence “Heeramandi” in Lahore. Tales of love, power and revolution for freedom are woven in the palatial house of the courtesans. Stellar female cast of the film includes Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chaddha, Aditi Rao Haidri, Sanjeeda Sheikh, and Shermin Sehgal. They dominate the screen with their powerful dialogues and performance. There is a gradual shift in their mannerism in the 191 second trailer. At first, they are powerful and audacious courtesans moving the world with their audacious adayein(mannerisms). But, as the narrative unfolds bigger conspiracies, internal struggles and the motives of the rich and Britishers, we begin to see them in a different light. Not mere courtesans but as normal people, patriots, using their power and influence to help the nation fight Britishers. And face the consequences of loss, grief and death in their pursuits of fighting for the Independence of the nation.

If the official figures are to be believed Heeramandi is made on a budget of more than 200 Crore. It is releasing on May 1, 2024 on Netflix.
